Collegiate Institute for Math & Science Reviews

Rating 3.76 out of 5 189 reviews

Provides students with various resources to prepare for college and academic advisement such as afterschool programs and tutoring. School is somewhat unorganized when it comes to planning events and the phone system. They have extremely high expectations and have students do finals and projects within the same week for all classes, which can be extremely stressful on the student but also helps prepare them for the workload in college. Would like to see changes to the phone system as it can be a safety hazard.

My overall experience at Collegiate Institute for Math and Science has been both short and long. Having quarantine take off one and a half years of my high school time has been both a blessing and curse. CIMS is fairly okay on maintaining the school but there has been many problem encountered with it. These problems include easily accessible vents into the girls stalls, to the school not handling students that are bullying and harassing other students. CIMS does have a nice diversity and culture but in terms of professionalism and respect towards students, there is little to none. All in all, I would not choose to re live my experience at this school again.

As a student at this Highschool I felt like it offered enough courseload to prepare you for college. However I did wish that I had been able to refine my decision early on to determine the required classes I would have to take. The APs that were offered seem strong but I wish they offered more math and allowed an opportunity for students to take more sciences.
