Mathematics is indispensable for quantitative understanding and logical thinking. It is employed as a formidable and powerful tool in science, engineering, and finance. The MSc program aims to enrich mathematics educators, particularly teachers from secondary schools and educational tutorial institutes, the mathematical knowledge.

On successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  1. Explain fundamental notions that underline the main areas of pure and applied mathematics and statistics;
  2. Explain the role of proof in pure mathematics;
  3. Explain to secondary school students the connection between the basic mathematics taught in secondary schools and more advanced mathematics;
  4. Use problem solving pedagogically as a way to increase student understanding and engagement in secondary schools; and
  5. Independently investigate additional areas of mathematics and its applications.

    27 credits

  2. Credit Transfer

    Subject to the approval of the Program Director and the University regulations governing credit transfer, a maximum of 6 credits can be transferred to the program.

To qualify for admission, applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Admission is selective and meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

  • Applicants seeking admission to a master’s degree program should have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, or an approved equivalent qualification.

Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments:

  • TOEFL-iBT: 80*

  • TOEFL-pBT: 550

  • TOEFL-Revised paper-delivered test: 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections)

  • IELTS (Academic Module): Overall score: 6.5 and All sub-score: 5.5

* refers to the total score in one single attempt

Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if

  • their first language is English, or

  • they obtained the bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an institution where the medium of instruction was English.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related Science or Engineering area

  • Applicants should have knowledge in Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations.
